Viewing London from this perspective is disorienting to a frequent visitor who pictures London as depicted on the Tube map, all rectilinear and neat.

I can't find a thing,

The tube map is a work of art!

Anything specific you would like pointed out?

Regards

There's so much great astronomical history in that town. Every time I've been there (3 times) I've spent an entire day just wandering around Greenwich.

Greenwich is full of interest! Unfortunately, not on this image.

Did you go to the Royal Observatory?

I did on 1 of my 3 visits. I spent most of my time in the Meridian Building and the building where John Harrison's clock is located.

Hi Graeme. I was inspired by your ISS image of London to look for the location of some places that I have heard over the years. So, using your ISS image (clicked up for the higher magnification) comparing it with a Google map. I now know where Covent Garden is located. It is just over the Waterloo Bridge on A301 and I also found the Royal Opera House. I am fortunate to have the entire DVD set of the Sheldon Reynolds production of Sherlock Holmes (1954), and the opening scene in all the episodes shows a sign with Marylebone. This is on the map that I printed out and scanned in B&W (I should have used a higher contrast), and is the location of the Sherlock Holmes statue and museum there. I am getting some bearings now of London and it's many wonderful buildings, landmarks, and attractions. My wife and I have always wanted to visit London so we might be getting ready now. Thanks Graeme for your post and ISS image, and the very best of regards.

All I can add, is it’s more attractive from this distance than driving through it, before COVID-19 a frequent event for me. Mind you my biggest ex-customer Imperial college is right by the Natural History Museum, the V&A and the Science Museum. I also wandered down Baker Street one time after the Planetarium, and browsed through the Sherlock Holmes Museum at 221B. It has its charms for sure.

It was a visit to the Natural History Museum that set me on a life long love of the Sciences. Visit London by Tube or Bus, just not by car…
Cheers,

Tony.

When I was in London I was short on time (business trip) so I just saw the British Museum. My folks however spent a considerable amount of time at Greenwich when they were there, though.

Thanks Graeme.

The West End is full full of life! I took my now wife in the Punch and Judy in Covent Garden on our first date. but it was packed so we strolled up to Leicester Square and then on the Piccadilly Circus where Eros poses with his bow and arrow!
