India has launched an ambitious mission to the Moon

#1

Post by smp »

From Ars Technica:

"On Monday, an Indian rocket launched a spacecraft bound for the Moon from Sriharikota, a barrier island off the Bay of Bengal coast. This Chandrayaan-2 mission is the second spacecraft India has sent to the Moon, and it represents a significant effort to explore the lunar surface and its potential as a source for water ice."

And importantly, it has a female Project Manager and a female Mission Manager.
It shouldn't be important or unusual, but unfortunately it still is.
So congratulations to Muthaya Vanitha and Ritu Karidhal and the ISRO for enabling talented people to lead projects.

Thanks for posting the article. It is great to see other nations getting into space exploration (other than Russia and the U.S.) .
