Which explains their push to have their own space station. They can run long duration experiments there to help decide how to go about the Mars project.
Any metaphor will tear if stretched over too much reality.

Re: China plans its first crewed mission to Mars in 2033
China has launched three astronauts into orbit to begin occupation of the country's new space station.
The three men - Nie Haisheng, Liu Boming and Tang Hongbo - are to spend three months aboard the Tianhe module some 380km (236 miles) above the Earth.
It will be China's longest crewed space mission to date and the first in nearly five years.

Sounds pretty aggressive, but wish them all the best.

Re: China plans its first crewed mission to Mars in 2033
If the U.S. would have continued their space program with the same fervor after the Apollo missions, we would most likely had improved our technology to the point where a presence on Mars could have already been established. That being said, our presence in space and interplanetary would be accelerated if we pursued it together as a species and not as individual countries. If only!

Probably you are right. Despite those negative things we mentioned here about Chinese space exploration department, still, they are heading really fast towards new technology and new openings in space exploration.GCoyote wrote: ↑Wed Jul 14, 2021 1:11 pmOzypic wrote: ↑Tue Jul 13, 2021 11:54 pmWell if its Red Dust they want , we have heaps of it..?China aims to send its first crewed mission to Mars in 2033, with regular follow-up flights to follow, under a long-term plan to build a permanently inhabited base on the Red Planet
