I think this belongs in the category of "extraordinary claims." Now the question of course is whether what has been noted/presented so far rises to the level of "extraordinary evidence." I'm pretty sure that the answer to that is "no," at least, "not yet." But this is an interesting article.

Some of the comments were certainly "harsh". IMO the authors deserved it.
Any metaphor will tear if stretched over too much reality.
