Yes, Virgin Galactic already has had a fatal crash, need to be careful with the PR. Nevertheless they went public via a SPAC (special purpose acquisition corp.) and now are traded on the NYSE with the ticker symbol SPCE. SPAC's allow companies to go public without the customary SEC scrutiny. For example, no S-1 document has to be filed.

In contrast Space X is still private. Goldman Sachs says it's valuation could exceed $500 billion within a few years after it goes public.
