Occasionally, stuff like that is visible just about anywhere. I remember a few years back around here a booster fell back, and the TV channels went wild with 'meteor shower' news. Of course, a piece of space junk breaking up into little flaming streaks is NOT a meteor shower! But the public ate it up.
I have noticed that space junk enters slowly and glows a dull orange, real space rocks are faster and burn blue-white in color and are only UFOs if you can film them way out of focus with image stabilization off.
