H/A - PST stage 2 mod with a Baader 90mm ERF on a Celestron XLT 102 (thanks Mike!)
Ca-K - W/O 61mm, Antares 1.6 barlow, Baader 3.8 OD and Ca-K filters with a ZWO ASI174mm.
W/L - C80-HD with Baader 5.0 & 3.8 Solar film, Solar Continuum 7.5nm and UV/IR filters with a Canon EOS 550D.

I might just celebrate with a double scotch and 2 chocolates instead of my usual single portions! Hopefully more will fail sooner.

Economically it should. The only thing to prevent that is getting propped up by US DoD. :(

I once showed a USAF officer an amateur picture of the ISS. He was horrified that a home built scope could show such detail and went on an espionage rant. I told him that amateur astronomers were a relatively conservative bunch who supported US DoD and did he really want to annoy that segment of the population? He calmed down and asked me how an amateur could make such nice optics at home and why reconnaissance satellites cost so much.

Good optics are easy. Putting them into orbit costs $$$.

Too much wine.... I ramble.... Anyway they would darken them. The point of the shaggy dog story is that the military is more sensitive to its constituency than Musk.

I do remember the first image a amateur took of a shuttle docked to the space station, the US military lost their minds a bit :lol:
A bit like amateurs relay hopping and talking to the astronauts on the radio, amateurs are quite ingenious at times :)
