Tips for exoplanet transit observation
Hi all,
I’m starting planning for observing am exoplanet transit in front of its host star. I am reading the manual for AstroImageJ which seems to have the features for processing images:
https://britastro.org/sites/default/fil ... _v2.06.pdf
This database API seems like a nice tool for planning which target to select:
https://astro.swarthmore.edu/transits.cgi
I have a guided celestron C8 on an avx. I generally get about 1.5” rms guiding performance. I usually do hobbist deep sky photos so my knowledge of astronomy is in that area.
Does anyone have experience with this? Any tips? Is the gear way under spec for the task? What kind of exposures do people take? Do you stack a few shots for each differential photometry datapoint?
Thanks
