Nova AT2019odu in Orion

#1

Post by kt4hx »

Just a heads up about a mag 11.6 nova in the upraised arm of Orion. Not sure how bright this will get, but its certainly viewable now. It is just over halfway and just east of a line between mag 4.1 Mu Orionis to mag 4.5 Xi Orionis. I have added a couple of charts below (made in Sky Tools 3) that should get you there. You will notice that the nova lies inside of a larger diamond of brighter stars (shown on the close up chart and is at the southeastern corner of a triangle that it forms with two other 11th mag field stars. Good luck if you happen to be up in the pre-dawn hours. :)
