Offsetting that though is that at that time the Sun would have been dimmer. Less solar radiation. The atmosphere would have been a much better blanket, true. But the illumination from the Sun would have been less.
At birth 70% of the current energy out put would have been the solar irradiance. Crudely splitting the difference for this time period puts us at 85% current. So using black body formulas the absolute temperature would have been ~4% less or 11C / 21F less. This additional CO2 in the atmosphere prevented Earth from becoming Hoth.
