But isn't it unlikely that they predate Jupiter's occupation of its present orbit? During the gas giant's migrations from beyond the frost line, to the inner Solar System, and back I would not expect the Lagrange point orbits to be stable.Trojan asteroids have been trapped on orbits associated with the stable Lagrange Points for billions of years due to the combined gravitational influences of the Sun and Jupiter.
Any metaphor will tear if stretched over too much reality.
