a new year! sidereal time ?

#1

Post by yobbo89 »

ok it's a new year ! or is it ?

i've done a little maths trying to dig up the current sidereal time ie the position of the sun to complete a full rotation around the earth,i got about 3-4 hrs from now but i'm not sure if i'm correct,a sidereal day is 23h 56m 04 sec.

does anyone have any info/links about this ?

happy new year for all, i beat you around the sun for anyone living in the northern hemisphere !

The average Sidereal year is 365 d 6 h 9 min 9.76 s
However, there is nothing astronomically special about January 1st - it is merely a convention that it is the start of the calendar year. Perihelion is a few days later.
