The destination was renamed due to political controversy.

Note though, NASA's not in charge of Solar System nomenclature. To the IAU it's still 2014 MU69. So the name "Arrokoth" like "Ultima Thule" is only a proposal. NASA is just revising its proposed named.

People need to find more important things to worry about.
Any metaphor will tear if stretched over too much reality.
