Will you be able to see the Saturn/Jupiter conjunction from your location?

Or like me, is that part of the sky blocked by a huge pile of rocks covered with trees?

I might make a run up to the ski hill if the Wx is clear. It is an hour drive so the forecast will have to be a good one.

I will have to move around a bit to see this show.
in the city where I live, it is built in a valley, so I live lower than the horizon at this precise moment.
but it does not matter I will go see this show.

I'll have to visit the front yard for the conjunction. It will be my third time out there for astronomy stuff and the first with a scope. The first was an evening view of Mercury a couple of years ago. More recently comet Neowise took me out there. Now all the neighbors will know I'm a freak!

For me, they'll be above the ocean but that presupposes that I won't have any clouds.

I have checked it out and I can get both in my camera's field of view on the 20th, the 21st, and the 22nd.

Cheers,

Not a chance. They are about 20 degrees below horizon.

Oops, Looked at wrong coordinates. They'll still be below horizon most of the time, but raise about 8 degrees above in the middle of the day.

They will be about 16 degrees above the horizon about an hour after sunset. From my roof (flat, accessible by metal spiral staircase) I should have a mostly unobstructed view of them. I need to go up there and check, however, to make sure the cell tower doesn’t interfere. We have been having some cloudy days here recently, but it’s due to clear up in a few days.

I’m quite excited about it.

This will be a bit of a trick here. We're situated in a valley, so I will have to do some uphill driving :D Even then they'll be only 15 degrees above the horizon at sunset, and I already predict we'll get clouds and a whack of snow here for the 20th to the 22nd

I still hope...

I saw them last night but very low down due to my high latitude (53.4N). It will be even more difficult on the 12th, and there is also a lot of cloud at this time of year. I will see if I can spot them during the day with my telescope.

According to Sky Portal they will be 18 above the horizon. Houses may be in the way.

I'll have about 15 minutes at sunset, between trees, to see it. I have been checking my options for framing. It looks like I can use the 8" Newt with the ASI120MC, and get decent framing. This option limits me to using the dome, which limits the size and orientation of the opening in the trees. The planets will be at about 15 degrees elevation, descending to about 10 degrees, but I know the dome opening will permit the scope to see that low.

If I go portable, to give me more positioning options, I'll probably use the C-90 with a DSLR. That mount isn't goto, though, so I'll have to find the planets by eye in the twilight. I might try both options if time permits. I will certainly get the C-90 set up in case the trees don't cooperate with the dome.

Using the Newt, I have a motorized focuser, and the ASI is tethered, so I can focus on the monitor. Using the C-90, I will have to pre-focus and mark the focuser in case it slips, hoping that the temperature doesn't shift the focus too much. The C-90 has the world's worst focuser, and the 350D can't be tethered to a computer and only has a teeny-tiny LCD screen on the back, so focusing in the field will be next to impossible in the time available.

Back bedroom with binoculars for me! I won't be able to see from the telescope position.

Looking forward to it immensely!

My only hope is in total daylight. I have no west view below 45 degrees. I might run out to my club's field and take my DSLR for a photo shoot. Of course that requires the weather gods to cooperate and they're pretty stingy.
