New! Comet Erasmus - the last bright comet of 2020

Discovered on September 17th 2020 by Nicolas Erasmus, comet Erasmus is fast approaching the inner solar system. With an orbital period of 1800 years the comet last made an appearance around the year 220 A.D. before the advent of telescopes. Erasmus is predicted to reach about magnitude 6 but may be even brighter than this, so it will be a good object to view for keen naked-eye observers under dark skies or an easy object in binoculars. It's closest pass by the sun will occur in December at .396 astronomical units.
