Interesting conjunction. Hopefully some of us will be able to see it!

Huh - it's supposed to be clear here tonight - maybe I will get a chance to get out there and check this out - looking at SkySafari - they are going to be fairly close to each other most of the early evening.

Of course, it is Friday - and I am already exhausted at 8:15am. :|

I did not do a proper observing session in a while. But I do enjoy watching Moonrise and moon phase changing night to night, and how the Moon is dancing around the planets. Just the other night I have noticed that Moon is getting closer to Mars, and was thinking that
the conjunction should happen soon.

Tried the 11x70 LW Oberwerk, but liked my 7x50 binoculars with this observation. My 20x80 and 11x70 binoculars show some false color on the moon, which is a little distracting. Had the 150mm f/12 refractor out earlier aimed at Jupiter and Saturn. The best I could do was 120 magnification that showed a sharp Cassini Division and four or so bands on Jupiter. The great red was sharp and visible. I did not do to good with Jupiter and Saturn this year. Both were just to low. Two nights I managed 240 magnification with the Yard Canon. Thus far one very good night with Mars. It seemed as if the southern polar ice cap was about 1/4 of the planet. The ice cap contrasted very good with the planets orange color.

A nice view tonight. They don't look quite as close as they did during the past two months conjunctions. Still a very pretty sight to see!

Well, when I took out the dog for the last time, the moon is BRIGHT and has a moisture halo around it. Glad I decided to not take the scope out for various reasons - I would've been frustrated with that!

I know there's a term for the moisture halo around the moon, just can't think of it. Or am I thinking of something else?

Nice sight here with the smoke from Cal, the moon has the same color as Mars. Or maybe the internet is right, MARS IS AS BIG AS THE MOON!!
