I think it would be great for radio astro, but I have some issues with "defacing" the moon, somewhat like strip mines in the US or burning the Amazon Basin. It seems humans have to destroy the natural beauty of everything that they can.

OTOH, if they ever start mining the moon for this and that, might as well get some science done.

I think there was a move by the U.S. govt yesterday calling for mining the moon - the google guys (Larry and Sergei) already have a company focused on it.
