Naming subcraters?

#1

Post by pakarinen »

How are subcraters named? Is it based on distance from the primary or radials or ???

For example, there's a crater labeled "C" to the northwest of Copernicus, south of the arc of the Carpathian Mnts. Is that Copernicus C or could it be Mayer C? Or maybe Eratosthenes C?

Thanks!
