Penumbral strawberry moon.

Post by KingClinton »

Had a few hazy clouds doing their best to play hide and seek with the moon but managed a few good views.

At the maximum phase of the penumbral and using what I am sure was averted imagination, I did note a slightly "less bright" area on the limb of the moon. Very hard to tell thpugh.
Through the scope there was no discernable difference in brightness.

Was fun to spend a few hours looking only at the moon for a change.
Went out a hour before and finished up a hour after. All in all a good night out.

Some cellphone pictures for your amusement. Note the pesky clouds!

Eyeballs, binoculars, sketch box, Scopes n stuff.
Some people don't understand why I love astronomy so much, I cannot understand why they do not!

You were lucky to actually see the Moon last night, whilst here we had low thick cloud and couldn't see a thing :(

Great shot with your phone too

Hi Clinton. A nice lunar shot with your iPhone. I went out last night to view an ISS flyby last night, and all I got was a face full of rain. Thanks for your post and image Clinton, and I sure hope that the incessant rain stops here soon, or I am going to have to consider building an ark.
