Re: old Voyager data show Uranus had a plasmoid
Very interesting orientation to Uranus' magnetic field lines and wobbling effect. The fact that Voyager actually flew through the plasmoid is intriguing. The leakage observed throughout the solar system over billions of years in terms of atmospheric loss may mean earth will share a similar fate as Mars. Once a wet planet, later a dry almost dead world.Unbeknownst to the entire space physics community, 34 years ago Voyager 2 flew through a plasmoid, a giant magnetic bubble that may have been whisking Uranus's atmosphere out to space. The finding, reported in Geophysical Research Letters, raises new questions about the planet's one-of-a-kind magnetic environment.
