The field of inventing axion DM detectors is heating up! Here's the latest proposal....

So I looked back at the earlier article and it appears this new proposal gives a device that can scan the entire allowed range of axion masses. That however looks like a pretty busy region of the spectrum. What else could you use to discriminate between the axion signal and other sources?
Any metaphor will tear if stretched over too much reality.

The axion signal would be just a single very narrow line source. I would expect that it wouldn't be that isotropic. Rather there would be a dipole anisotropy at the very least corresponding to the motion of the Sun about the MW center. The axions we'd detect would be from the MW halo which doesn't rotate much. The Sun's motion would induce a blue shift in the direction of the Sun's way and a red shift in the opposite direction.
