It's pretty good. She uses the "s" word appropriately.

Re: Dr H video on the need for quantum gravity
nFA,
thank you for posting this video. loved it!!
if you have time, would you please comment on something Dr. H said?
what I'm wondering about, is the quantum thing with electrons being in two places at the same time.

Re: Dr H video on the need for quantum gravity
According to standard QM if we can measure which slit the electron goes through by any means then the interference pattern is destroyed just as in the Feynman lectures you have. The electron is only in one place if you measurement. Otherwise it can be on any place where the wave function is non zero.chasmanian wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2019 12:48 am nFA,

The puzzle with using a sensitive spacetime curvature device is a problem for folks trying to think of a quantum gravity.
I don't think this is very helpful, though. What are your concerns?

Re: Dr H video on the need for quantum gravity
thank you very much nFA!!!
my concerns are simply that I thought it was impossible for anything to be in 2 places at the same time.
and Dr.H's saying that, well I guess never heard it put that way before.
I understand better now, (thank you) that measurement causes the electron to be in 1 place.
but if we don't measure, then the electron is in a probable location?
and there are 2 slits, so there are 2 probable (or would it be more accurate to say possible), places where the electron could be?
is there a similar thing with where electrons are around an atomic nucleus?
there's a cloud and it can anywhere in the cloud?
and I am really guessing now, but is quantum entanglement another similar thing (even just partially)?

I'd prefer possible location. Some locations are more probable than others.but if we don't measure, then the electron is in a probable location?
Yes in the sense that there are two possible slits for the electron to pass through. But also there are possible locations from the electron source to the slits and from the slits to the detector screen.and there are 2 slits, so there are 2 probable (or would it be more accurate to say possible), places where the electron could be?
Yes, exactly so.is there a similar thing with where electrons are around an atomic nucleus?

Entanglement involves the same ideas. Put two electrons in a correlated state. If you separate them gently enough their wave functions remain correlated until you measure one of them.and I am really guessing now, but is quantum entanglement another similar thing (even just partially)?

thank you so much nFA!!
you are brilliant.
you are indeed the Oracle of this internet corner of this very likely flat spacetime Universe. :)
very glad that you are here.

You give too much credit. I just remember well the homework I did in school....chasmanian wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2019 3:45 am thank you so much nFA!!
