The part about how energy conservation is not defined for the the universe in GR gives me heartburn, though. There is a religious war on whether it is or whether it isn't. I'm on the side that says it is and so disagree with the author. The warriors in this struggle are, on the author's side, Schrödinger. On my side there is Landau and Lifshitz and Dirac (i.e. G-d).
