Wow, a satellite the size of a box of Cheerios that cost $4 million to explore hot Jupiters out there. The CU researchers really have stumbled upon something.

There's really no reason, why small things would not be effective. Think of a main frame computer of 70's - 80's and compare them to your laptop. Of course, if the idea is about imaging with high resolution...

And think about the fuel needed to get that little box on the orbit...

That's the key, thing. It's not imaging, it's doing spectroscopy with a very small telescope. That's why it's limited to hot Jupiters. The signal to noise ratio allows a small telescope.

I remember someone did a presentation at my club about 10 years on something similar to this, I remember him saying about the size of a can of Pepsi.
