In the series "Juha's stupid questions":
Is there some clear criteria of what is globular cluster and what's open cluster?
I understand that globular clusters contain more, and older stars that open clusters, but are there some definitive criteria?

It's originally just a question of morphology. Globular clusters are tight spheroidal, globular in shape. Open clusters are less symmetric. The physical difference is that globular clusters are more deeply bound gravitationally and can resist tidal and dynamical friction effects from the environment that tend to dissolve them. Open clusters are not so tightly bound and might not survive more than a few circuits around the host galaxy.

New find and 342,000 light years away. I suppose it's origin is the Milky Way and it is more or less superimposed over the Magellanic cloud. I did chuckle a bit about YMCA, that 70's song.

Yeah, I think it's the only open cluster I know of with its own "national anthem". ;)
