Re: Dr H video: 2+2 Doesn't Always Equal 4
The first thing that came to my mind was modulus.
It's, by the way, odd, that so many people talk about modulus operator ("%") in C programming language, when the specification talks about reminder (which it actually is). You can see the difference, if you use negative numbers.
Too bad, that many of the "mathematical facts" are usually learned as a mantra - without actually understanding them.
And even that would be fine, if those "Dunning-Kruger"-people didn't start making noise.
(Sorry, didn't know how to put that last one in English. Self-confidence by ignorance?)

We are all the heroes of our own narrative. It's often weirdly, sadly amusing how folks look down on illiteracy but are perfectly content being innumerate.

Nicely put!
Should I have said "self-arrogance" instead of "self-confidence"?

I understood your meaning so your English was fine. A more idiomatic way to put it is "unjustified self confidence". Self-arrogance is not a better usage.turboscrew wrote: ↑Sat Jun 12, 2021 11:20 pm"He who knows not but knows not that he knows not."notFritzArgelander wrote: ↑Sat Jun 12, 2021 11:14 pmHe who knows not but knows not that he knows not.turboscrew wrote: ↑Sat Jun 12, 2021 11:03 pm The first thing that came to my mind was modulus.
