Pretty impressive for a 17-year old. I am sure it will help with those college and grad school applications! Apparently he is considering Princeton, MIT, or Stanford.

So, he didn't really perform the Original Work that discovered the Candidate - rather some group of Citizen-Scientists participating in the Planet Hunters TESS project on Zooniverse did the initial Identification. That helps to underline the Contributions to Astronomy (and other Sciences) by the various Zooniverse Projects.
But, "17-year old Discovers Planet" does sound sexier...
