New Cam opinions...

Post by Altocumulus »

Hi all,

May I pick your brains....

My ZWO 120MM is on its way out - In order to use it I have to re-flash the firmware each time in order for my PC to recognise it. ZWO have tried to sort it, remotely, without solution.

I have a ZWO 174MM ( Cool ).

In two different telescopes for Solar imaging; William Optics 102GT + Lunt Herschel Wedge & Lunt LS 60 tha. The 174 allows for full-disc images.

Can anyone recommend a decent camera to complement the 174, and these two 'scopes? Doesn't necessarily have include ZWO. Budget around £250 +/- sensible amount.... :D
Just call me Geoff....

I do what I do because I can, and because I want to.
It doesn't mean I know what I'm doing

I'm not sure what you exactly need in terms complement the other camera. Guessing for the fov to match?

I'll dig deeper, for now I have picked the asi 290 which is a good replacement for the asi120, a slightly horizontal wider fov and a bit shorter on the vertical.

About in your budget

Also there is the asi 224 which is cheaper and has the same or simular chip size as the 120
