WELL IT LOOKED GOOD !

#1

Post by Tillibobs »

A beautiful clear sky today for a change ( see, buying a microscope made the cloud gods happy ).
I set the Lunt 60 up and had no problem finding the Sun, the main sunspot stood out well. Next I hooked up the camera and laptop but I couldn't get the camera to talk to the laptop, kept getting a message poster asking me to try another USB port. This was with both Sharpcap Pro and the Altair capture programme,. Looks like I'll be contacting Altair to find what's wrong.

I am so glad to read that I'm not the only bod to have difficulties when the weather behaves.

I am very close to throwing my Lunt60 in the bin - it's been a bitter disappointment, especially when it's taken 3 weeks and counting for a replacement green bit to get here.

I'm increasingly tempted by a Quark, but as it's not (as far as I know) possible to remote manage it's safe!

I'll spend some time correcting a couple of flaws in the Obsy Shed - plus keeping regular wasp watch!
Just call me Geoff....

I do what I do because I can, and because I want to.
It doesn't mean I know what I'm doing

I'm pretty sure that Gordon images remotely with his Quark.

Yes, I do.

I have a laptop that I setup next to the scope (in a shaded spot1) that I can remotely run through my desktop inside my home. It takes a bit of testing to make sure that everything is working correctly (you don't want a 'run-away' mount!!!!) but I've been doing it for years and so far everything works great.

It's really nice in the summer when it's really hot outside to be able to sit in the air conditioned house sipping on a cold beverage and running everything remotely.
