Hi Cliff ,
The F/32 represents the optimal and there is ample leeway in either direction so I wouldn't reduce your aperture . The first image was more even and on band so that tells me that your etalon is working correctly because the field is more even and the tuning is more uniform .The Quark's work very well and will produce an on band even field when tuned correctly . You are correct about waiting for changes , the warm up happens fairly quickly but if you want to reduce the temp on a hot day it will take longer to adjust . You may have found a setting that worked well in the past but if your weather changes through out the year this can affect the tuning so the optimal setting for summer conditions could be different at other times of the year . It is easy to miss flaws when setting up a capture because the screen is not always easy to see out in the bright sunlight . The last thing I do before shooting the video is to have a good look across the full field right out to the corners , my etalons are manually tuned so I can tweak them in various ways to correct any issues . If your Quark is set correctly it should have the ability to produce the even field without all the tweaking .
As far as being bright in the center this is common , use the exposure to knock that down , the darker areas closer to the edges will be easy to lighten back up in the processing .
There are many different shots we want to take , full disk ,proms , close up surface ect . Shooting a prom on the limb will take different tuning and camera settings than doing a close up of an AR .
I had Quark for about 5 years and will say that it produced a very even field for the camera and I did get some decent images with it but I found that my other options worked better for me . Having to shoot at F/32 put me right on the edge of where upper atmosphere distortion becomes a problem so I needed a very steady sky to be able to use it successfully . My other options allow me to back away to where my sky conditions are not presenting a problem for me . The Quark can a tricky tool to use for imaging and I commend those who are doing a good job with them , and that includes you .

Nice grab Fraz , I hope you don't mind but I knocked down the sky glow and tried to bring out a bit more definition in the structure .

Well a little surprise while looking at a quiet Sun,

I made this little animated gif over about an hour from a number of captures today. Not perfect and tracking was not perfect and wind wasn't helping.

No processing just each video stacked using Autostakkert.

Hope it plays here.

Hi Keith,

So it plays ok ?, I tried aligning the frames in Photoshop not easy but did make it a little better.
Seeing wasn't great either.

Never know what the Suns going to do!

Fixed the slow start and slowed the Gif down some.

That is an awesome prom, Cliff. Thanks for sharing the stack.:)

There is a little check-box at around the 1:45 mark in this video that might help align the stack.

My personal opinion is that you are sharpening it up well but losing data. I think i have got more into leaving the softer side while keeping the detail at the expense of perfection. I have looked at both and there is merit in both, it might be about compromise.

First off great processing job ! I have a question for the processing wizards . I prefer a black background for solar images and this includes the inverted surface images . Trying to section the background to invert it back to black is difficult to do without sectioning the proms at the limb . Any tricks to make the background black without loosing the proms ?
