Hi All, I have got my AZ-GTi all set up with AZ-GTI Mount PC Connect EQMOD Cable for PC to Hand Control Port Cable Directly and my Lunt 60mm h-alpha scope in the observatory as I ham just going to image the sun got to old to carry on doing dep sky which I have don sins 1950s, I have got the new 3.30 firmware right arm az/eq, what I was wondering will it be ok in AZ as my ASI 178 only takes about 120 seconds to get 1000 images or will it be beater in EQ.

Hi Peter, I've been using an AZ/ALT mount since I started imaging the Sun. I try not to exceed 30 seconds per capture and find that the cameras grab plenty of frames in that time ( probably due to the very low exposure needed for the Sun ).Please let us know how you get on.

I don't think you'll have any issues, Peter. As my mentor, Keith, said above, just keep the capture time below thirty seconds... AutoStakkert will do a good job of bringing all the frames into alignment during the stacking process.

Obviously, a tracking mount will let you capture more images into the stack, but you'll have fun. We solar-heads are always looking for others to join the fun. BTW: A frontal lobotomy helps a lot. LOL
