Revisting AR2796
That said, there is still room for improving my processing techniques. I really don't like posting colored images of Active Regions... The coloring process simply removes too much of the fine detail when saving them in a web-friendly format.
Here is an image of AR2796 shot in January 2021... In my opinion, it's "not bad". However, the addition of color wiped out much of the detail that was present in the original monochrome capture. The color-noise simply gets in the way, blocking much of the finer detail. Here is the same image after some extreme color de-noise work...

The vast improvements in the surrounding filaments really help the image in my opinion. The overall "pop" in the color contrast is evident even to this old color-blind guy.
