Prominences from Cycle 24

#1

Post by NGC 1365 »

A bit of a look back at some of the impressive prominences from cycle 24. Images through Lunt LS100 SS and either the DMK51 or ASI174mm.

That is quite the collection; nicely done! Hopefully Cycle 25 enables you to get some more great shots!

All the best,

Some crackers there. They probably fit right into the solar images section.

Pardon my ignorance as i have just returned after a couple of years out but are you still imaging and posting?
Mentored by Keith, Mike, John and Bill. (The old guard) and forever grateful.
PST mod stage 2 - Quark on extended loan and yet to repay with value ;)
Camera- ASi 174 mono no tilt required.
BF10,15,30 straight through with baader ffc. (looking to replace the rusted IFT on 10 + 15 with a maier replacement)
Lots of nighttime scopes and stuff but focus on the sun.

All the best,
Thanks Mark, I don't image any more I'm strictly visual now, but still looking forward to the increasing solar activity.

Thanks Fraz, I don't image anymore, I sold off my last camera and tracking mounts a few years ago. I used to be in the solar group on the Astronomy forum back in 2013-2017 (username Gus.k) and remember some of the great banter
and images, had a great time on that site.

Yeah, I remember, you pointed me in the right direction many times.

Do you still look at things from a technical perspective/ I ask because I was going to post about my inadequacy in that department.

Hi Fraz, yes, I'm still very interested in that aspect of solar observing and equipment.

In all the years, I never knew you were Ivan :)

We have solsearcher and you for the technical stuff then, Keith and i have a passing knowledge.
John (Lowjiber and Ben Cartwright for Equipment and processing stuff with Keith and I with a passing knowledge)
We have lots of knowledge of white light of varying capabilities and experience.
What we are lacking is new blood
Where do you find that?

Hi Ivan; thanks for the response :D Any particular reason you're not doing imaging anymore? Though I have to admit, visual is just easier (and cheaper too!)

All the best,
Mark

All the best,
Hi Mark, I've always been strictly visual, dabbled a bit in solar and lunar imaging but prefer visual.
