Good news. Try without barlow, first.

Ah weel Pete - define expensive! I use a Teleview 2.5 Powermate - asking for it as a Christmas Pressie....tbh I've not used it with a 178, only a 174 on my Lunt 60.

Hi Peter. I agree with Geoff. I have waited for years to get a Lunt60 Ha scope. In the meanwhile, I use a Teleview 2.5x Powermate with my Mak-Cass telescope and older ASI120 camera for lunar and planetary work. When I finally get the Lunt60, the Powermate will also be my choice.

I hope this helps Peter, and the best of regards.

The TelVue Powermates are vastly superior to Barlows, especially with a Lunt 60.

Tinker around with the cheaper barlows first and switch to Powermates once you have an idea of what magnification you'll want... A 2.5x Powermate will likely work just fine for you.:)
