Smoke? Solar Minimum? No Problem!

#1

Post by Lowjiber »

We all like to practice processing, but these days the pickin's aren't that good with all the smoke in the air across the country.

Well, it just so happens that we have several telescopes around the globe that take a solar shot every minute during the day... rain or shine.:) I'm talking about the GONG H-Alpha Network Monitor... http://halpha.nso.edu/

This morning was really too smoky to even attempt a shot. However, the sky was decent in Chile and they had a shot posted on the GONG Network, so I cropped the area-of-interest and gave it a go in Photoshop.

Here's my crop...

Here's my processed "Masterpiece".

So, if you're looking to hone your solar processing skills there is no need to wait... Just jump on GONG and you'll find "something" for practice.:)
