Forecast was good tonight for the first time in ages. So I set up with great expectations. Just as I was ready to go, it started snowing! Just a flurry though. Then it cleared.

I've been planning on getting an image of the Horsehead for ages, first clear night and there's a 77% lit Moon 25° away!

Still having the craic though!

Anyone else out tonight?

It's supposed to be clear after several days of cloudy/rainy skies. So I may do some open-cluster gazing along with the moon. Maybe I'll also try for m79 the globular cluster in Lepus. Haven't viewed it in awhile. In fact, it was around the time of the comet that was in Lepus for a few days several years ago. It may have been this one: P/2016 BA14 (PANSTARRS) so that means I have not observed M79 in four years... good luck Graeme.

Clouds are coming and going and my guiding keeps hiccuping but I'm getting some subs collected. It's a bit chilly!

M79 is a bit low for me! It transits here soon but it's still under 15° altitude.

1530 here now and clouds have been coming in. I can see some small blue patches but it's supposed to snow later.

Yeah, that's a bit too chilly for me! don't suppose you'll be out much till March!

Yep out, and trying to remember how to do this; the moon was a simple target...

I was thinking of the horse-head too, but I had some issues with getting a good enough alignment.

It takes a bit of head scratching when it's been a while! Did you get some good Lunar shots?

Dusk now on the East coast USA, clear but says seeing is 1/5.........gonna give it a go anyways at about 23 degrees......bundling up!!

I would have but the winds were howling. They even knocked over my (slightly unstable) greenhouse. Predictions were for 15 knots - but it takes more than that to knock the greenhouse over. And cold! 17F. Still trying to warm up the house.

Clouds and 6-8 inches of snow forecast. It ain't happenin' tonight either.

Maybe This coming Friday - the 29th. And a skeptical one at that - Full Moon of course. Has to be clear for that. Capturing nebulae is like herding cats. Good luck with that.

Fat chance: totally cloudy 'till at least next Sunday, snow and slush every now and then.
At least that's what the forecasts say. But it was that last week too, so I'm inclined to believe.

As you can see by my sky chart, same problem here....

Rain stop play tonight so I'm planning on a reprocess of the Horsehead data from Saturday night. Flats didn't work last attempt!

FLO says I have a clear sky for 4 hours after midnight. Think I'll have a kip on the settee for a couple of hours now!

Chances look good - it's clear and I'll have a couple hours before moonrise if I go out tonight after dinner.

Clear for a couple of hours here tonight. I'm going to have another go at the horsehead with no Moon, no movement between subs and no work tomorrow! And I thought I would give PHD2 multistar guiding a go too.
