I'm a bit rusty on my planetary imaging.

Shot these last night.

In both cases:

ZWO ASI120MM-S
Celestron C6-R
AVX
ES 3× focal extender

1000 frames captured via SharpCap, best 10% stacked in Autostakkert!, Registax for wavelets, PS for posting reduction.

Meh. :lol:

Though the focus is a bit soft you still managed some nice detail on both planets. :)

Nice job Bryan!

I just took a quick look at these two beauties with the Nexstar 130SLT a few minutes ago. Not a good seeing night, but these two are gorgeous.

Hi Mark! These go fairly quickly. Since the sensor on the 120 is rather small, the resulting video file is not terribly arduous for even my modest laptop to chew on. About 45 seconds to get 1000 frames in the can. Autostakkert! cranks on these probably less than three minutes. Registax less than a minute. The Photoshop bit takes about a minute.

Lunar images from the ASI174MC take about 5 times as long as the datasets are much larger. :)

Pretty quick to process, in other words. :)

Nice Bryan. I did some planetary observations last night with the 6" frac - did manage a good view of Jupiter, which was pretty cool at 240x.

Is it soft focus? The problem seems to be a halo of some kind. Are you dewing up?

Nah, it's achromatic refractor and a 3× focal extender. :D

I need to try chasing them with my dobsonian next time.

It's all about focal length (FL), then resolution. And of course, as you increase FL your tracking needs to be more and more precise. As Roseanne Roseannadanna would say: "It just goes to show you. It's always something. If it's not one thing, it's another."
