Jupiter - 8/28/21

Image of Jupiter from 8/28/21 on the Blue Ridge Parkway at Explore Park overlook between 10PM and midnight or so. Taken with a Celestron 8SE scope, AVX Mount, ZWO ASI224MC camera, Celestron X-Cel LX 2x Barlow, and ZWO ASICAP software. Images captured as SER files and processed with AutoStakkert, RegiStax, and Apple Edit software packages.

Added a second image from earlier that is processed a bit more in RegiStax.

A lovely image Ed. Have you thought about using WinJupos because it appears your image might be suffering from rotational smear. If your imaging time frame is longer than 3 minutes then that is a consideration that needs to be taken into account.

This one and others were much shorter than 3 minutes. The issue I saw was Dew related, which I was not prepared for that night. I had hoped to do Saturn as well, but by the time I tried it, it was more of a white blur. I will get my Dew heaters this week and avoid this in the future.

I use an iOptron polar scope and checked the PA during the night, and made minor updates as needed.

Hi Ed. A very nice Jupiter image here with the Celestron 8SE telescope. Very nice equatorial and temperate belting in your capture. Thanks for sharing this with us on here Ed, keep up the great work, and now on to Saturn soon.
