Jupiter and Saturn July7th

#1

Post by jerrysykes »

Couple of planet images from early this morning. I had planned to get the GRS somewhere near the meridian, but as you can see I was a little late.

The conditions were not bad seeing was very good and transparency had a light haze.

Both were taken using my 120mm refractor, ZWO 224mc camera and a 3x barlow.

Captured with Sharpcap3, stacked with Autostakkert 3 and processed with Registax 6
Jupiter is the best 20% of 3000 frames and Saturn is the best 30% of 5000 frames.

Nice captures! I forgot they were up in the mornings...from my location in Virginia about 40 degrees high for Jupiter at 4:30am. Will have to get up early to take a peek.

Hi Jerry. A superb pair of images here. Very nice belting features and colors on both captures, and the Cassini division shows up nicely on Saturn, and the GRS shows up nicely on Jupiter. Thanks for sharing this work with us Jerry, and congratulations on winning the TSS APOD Award today.
