3 Juno

Post by KathyNS »

No, I haven't filed this image under the wrong forum. Asteroid 3 Juno is currently doing a close fly-by of globular cluster M10. This image will not win any prizes for artistic impression, but it does show the asteroid.

It is the object that doesn't quite look like a star, because it moved during the 40 minutes of exposure time (8x 300s, L).

I did a version where I subtracted an old image of M10 from last night's image, and the asteroid jumped right out!
