Captured with a Meade 10-inch
1/6 second at ISO 125 - single frame, no filters.
Processed with Arcsoft's PhotoStudio 6.0. I applied two layers of processing and was able to isolate each planet and flatten the dynamic range to bring out a bit more detail in both though atmospherics was too much to overcome in the final single-frame image. I probably have several hundred frames so I may try stacking though Jupiter and Saturn were moving relative to one another because of Earth's own orbital motion, of course.
This session was pretty much a dry run for tomorrow and I hope to be able to be under a bit better sky (hope springs eternal!) so I can image long enough to capture more motion between the two gas giants. I'm thinking of trying some fancy smancy time-lapse or something or other.
