Jupiter and Saturn from July 2nd 2019

Post by Lokifish »

These are my best captures so far this season. The air's been very unstable, so the finer ring details like Encke Gap and other smaller gaps have been out of reach.

SN8 at f/20
2x and 3x stacked giving a 5x
183C
LXD55

7000 frames each
  • SharpCap (2x2 binned, RGB24, 1280x1024 crop as the camera lacks ROI support)
  • PIPP (best 20%, stabilization, noise and hot pixel filtering, AHD deBayer, highlight recovery, histogram balancing)
  • Autostakkert (best 20%, RGB align)
  • Registax (predefined wavelet setting, then additional fine tuning)
  • GIMP (scalar sharpening, levels, and final color balancing)

Real nice Russ!!
Hope we get a night that both transparency and seeing are good and the GRS is visible. Maybe I'm asking for too much. lol.
