Jupiter and Saturn

Took these two last night and early this morning. The air was very unsteady and there was a haze.

Jupiter is 20% of 20,000 frames and Saturn is 40% of 20,000 frames

Both were taken with my 120mm refractor, ZWO 224 color camera and a 3X barlow

Stacked with AS!3 and processed with Registax6

Wow 20,000 frames , is that where Im going wrong , hmmm. Im only trying 20% of one to 3 thousand frames. The planet tends to drift off my screen . And I was under the impression that due to rotation you should limit it to 3 minutes or so . But they are great images. And thanks for sharing them . Phill

Hi Phill. You are correct about keeping the video short due to rotation. ZWO 224 cameras have a very fast frame rate.
I captured the 20,000 frames of Jupiter in just over two minutes.

I used to have a ZWO120mc and it works very well. If you pick a frame size that just fits the object you're imaging the frame rate will increase.
Don't worry about the planet drifting. Simply recenter it. When you choose 20% of the frames to process the ruined frames will be tossed out.

I use AS!3 stacking and Registax 6 for processing.
