Here's my attempt on capturing Mars. First light on my ASI462MC. Taken through my EdgeHD11 at f/25 (2.x barlow). Waiting for my 4x Televue Powermate to arrive.
Best 4,000 frames of 20,000 captured. Captured with SharpCap, processed with PIPP to a SER file, stacked with AutoStakkert, wavelet processing with Registax, PSP final tweaking.

Yeah - 2018 was a real bust for me because of the global dust storm. 2020 should be much better for many reasons: Mars is still pretty close (not as close as 2018 when it was 24" in size, but 22" in size is still large), it's much higher in the sky (DEC of +5 vs -30 in 2018) and so far the weather is cooperating (on both planets :))

Hi Mikey, congratulations on the APOD. It is a special image indeed. Very beautiful. I suppose it's the angle of the planet in the frame that makes for this wonderful sense of presence. A fine presentation of a planet floating in space. Quite magnificent.

Thanks much, I struggle a lot with getting a respectable planetary image. I've seen others work blow me away, but I try anyway. Once my Televue 4x arrives I'll image again and see what 'pops' out. As they say, planetary imaging is 'lucky imaging'.
