More Comet Neowise

Got up at 3 am and tried to find the comet, but a cloud band blocked until 3:30. Just a quick process of the last 10/2sec exposures thru an ancient 135mm f2.8 telephoto with ASI1600MC OSC on fixed tripod poked out the window of my den.

Cropped about 20%, tail length 4-5 degrees. Just think what this will be like in a dark sky with no twilight or bright moon in about a week.

Forgot to include the camera setting info, as usual. ASI1600MC-cool, gain 200, offset 50, bin 1x1, temp -10.5C. Just used a wall wart for the 12v cooler supply, not sufficient power this time of year to get to -20C, but seemed OK anyway. Also, processed with no darks, flats, bias or other lens cap on modes. Didn't seem to make any difference either.

And, the 'stick it out a window' method of astronomy is regarded as a mortal sin, but also didn't seem to matter, inside and outside temps this time of year about the same. And this kept it out of the 15mph wind which the spindly Velbon tripod would not have liked. Not to mention that I didn't need to get dressed either, pajama party!

II too like the second one best the cloud acts as an ND filter and reveals more detail. There I said something positive about clouds.
