Voyageur wrote: Tue Jun 04, 2019 12:32 am Very cool! It will be fun to include some of these during outreach sessions.
If you can use them it's OK by me :)
Thank you, Donald. I didn't mean I was planning to take your images to use! That would have been rather presumptuous of me. I simply meant that when we have our public outreach events, I might be able to point out some of the asterisms you have mentioned.

You may want to put your name on images you create, although I'm not sure if you can copyright images based on screenshots from a program like Stellarium. Maybe it's time for some astrophotography of your own!
No, I wouldn't want to do anything like copyright these. We are here to help each other and have fun and I like helping other people.

This is a Stellarium screenshot that I embellished in Paint to show the NGC 1981 Alligator / Crocodile asterism that is in ORION.
I remember logging that one as a 'four legged animal with a tail and snout.' - 25th January 1975. It has taken me 44 years to find out what animal it was! Thankyou! :D

I just updated my Stellarium from 18.2 to 19.1 and I seen the Cygnus Star Chain on it. I'm thinking that I didn't see it on 18.2.

Cygnus star chain.png
This is the Cygnus Star Chain. Look how close it is to the Crescent Nebula.

I have been learning some interesting things about the Cygnus Star Chain today. It is a repeated asterism. The Cygnus Star Chain itself forms a bow & arrow asterism and so does the star cluster NGC6871 that is attached to it.

This is a embellished Stellarium screenshot of NGC6871 showing the asterism. There are some interesting stars in it like WR133/HIP99002 and CYG27.

I just seen a few zoomed in images of NGC6871 and there looks to be yet another bow & arrow asterism in it
So we are at 3 now.

Shower Head.png
I came up with this asterism this morning while trying to find a good target. I call it the SHOWER HEAD. It is in the SCULPTOR constellation. It is 31'58.40" in length north to south and one degree 24'5.92" away from Bond's Galaxy NGC 7793. I spent this morning working on embellishing this screenshot from Stellarium.

I did miss the star in the crook of the neck. It's Mag: 8.45.
My challenge now is to locate it, view it, and then see if I can separate that 10th magnitude star from HIP 430.
