From the sketch box, M17.

Our monthly challenge is M17, link below, so I went out with the first available clear sky and set about sketching M17.

viewtopic.php?f=83&t=1454

This sketch is white pastel pencil on black A5 sketch paper. The nebula itself is brushed on with a thin paintbrush covered with the pastel dust.
The original sketch was photographed and put into photoshop. The texture of the paper shows up in the image and looks like noise, I darkened the background ever so slightly, if you look closely enough you still see a hint of it, I then added a circle border and the text.
The image below that is the exact same pencil sketch put into Startools and processed as normal. Star colours, star spikes are added and I am able to try adjust star sizes and magnitudes.
Makes for a bit of fun and produces a nice digital copy of my original sketch that resembles what I see at the eyepiece.

Some people don't understand why I love astronomy so much, I cannot understand why they do not!
