Nice sketches. If this was your first, you did a great job! We want to see more of this!
You took the trouble of placing faint stars in the background and not just make it all faint- gray! Gives an extra dimension. Great!
Tips for rounder stars: place the pencil more vertical and rotate the pencil. For brighter stars you can try liners in stead of a bigger dot with a pencil.
When a star is not round ( or bright) enough to your taste, no one is going to forbid you to correct it in "Paint" for instance. ( much work, because once started you can't stop
Thanks, and keep on sketching.
Refractors in frequency of use : *SW Evostar 120ED F/7.5 (all round ), * Vixen 102ED F/9 (vintage), both on Vixen GPDX.
GrabnGo on Alt/AZ : *SW Startravel 102 F/5 refractor( widefield, Sun, push-to), *OMC140 Maksutov F/14.3 ( planets).
Most used Eyepieces: *Panoptic 24, *Morpheus 14, *Leica ASPH zoom, *Zeiss barlow, *Pentax XO5.
Commonly used bino's : *Jena 10X50 , * Canon 10X30 IS, *Swarovski Habicht 7X42, * Celestron 15X70, *Kasai 2.3X40
Rijswijk Public Observatory: * Astro-Physics Starfire 130 f/8, * 6 inch Newton, * C9.25, * Meade 14 inch LX600 ACF, *Lunt.

Thanks for the suggestions! I really appreciate them since I am just starting out.

I used pen for the brighter stars... pencil first, to get the placement right, and then pen to make them stand out against fainter stars and to allow me to more easily "smudge in" the whisps in the background. I agree that my technique needs some tuning -- some of the stars came out a little blobbier than stars ought to look :? I think your advice seems pretty applicable to using the fine-point pen, too.

Thanks, again.
