Strawberry Moon, Sketch.
This full Moon is known as the Strawberry Moon.
Last night I decided to try my hand at my first lunar sketch. I have been wanting to try this for a while now.
The sketch is a naked eye sketch as I see the Moon up in the sky, no optical aide other than bi-focals.
It is a combination of soft pastel sticks and black A4 sketch paper, the sketch itself is about the size of my hand wide open.
And then just for fun I added a touch of colour since it's the Strawberry Moon.

Thanks for all the great comments guys!
I think I need to clarify that the colour is falsely added in photoshop. I neglected to add that in the original post.

This wonderful Clinton.
You inspire me, my friend.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful work !
P.S,
This "Strawberry " moon is what my neighbor who is letting me use the concrete pad is looking for.
Unfortunately we are deeply overcast this week. I will try to show her your drawing. I think she will appreciate this very much as I do.

Re: Strawberry Moon, Sketch.
Very nice Clinton. Your first lunar sketch? Great start. Now, go out with your scope, some time around 1st quarter, pick a crater near the terminator, and give that a try. You just might become a loony like me!
Cheers,
(BTW, I've never had the courage to try doing a full disk. Props!)

I have considered doing a eyepiece sketch of the lunar surface. Every time I look at it I am unsure of whether it is something I can accomplish and generally talk myself out of itfrazier wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2019 6:44 pm Very nice Clinton. Your first lunar sketch?
