The Sun Feb. 5th

Today when I got up and looked outside, I saw a very unusual sight.

Clear blue skies. I haven't seen that since literally last year. Same with ol' Sol, not that there's a lot of activity going on there. The closest I have come to clear skies was Jan. 7th, when the Sun was making sundogs and parts of the sky were blue:

Since then the weather has been clouds, rain and snow, coupled with constant high humidity. And I though 2018/2019 was bad....
Anyways, I decided to take advantage of my rare opportunity this morning and take some photos of a completely spotless Sun. AR Nada

I used my C80-HD, Baader solar film, and a Canon T3 at ISO 800 and 1/1600 sec exposure. The best 47% of 30 pics, processed with PIPP, AS2, and ImPPG.

That was fun. An hour later the clouds were starting to creep back in, and tonight we're expecting 5-10 cm's (2-4 inches) of snow. Of course. It would either be that or rain.

Overcast and windy here, high wind alerts again for tomorrow so no chance of observing again.
Nice granulation in the image Mark, you have your focus spot on at least for when the sunspots do return

I tried imaging the Sun this past weekend. Lots of thin clouds around. I didn't do so well. I need some Baader film which I've said I was going to order yet have failed to do so. :lol;

Seems like it is always windy during the day.

Clear here this evening, but the yard is mush, it is cold, and I had a long day. Don't think I'll play.
